Bhubaneswar: A special drive for checking buses and other light vehicles used for carrying school students will be conducted from April 20- 27, Odisha State Transport Authority (STA) said on Monday.
The Regional Transport Officers have been asked to submit a compliance report on the special drive on April 28.
The decision was taken since schools had remained closed for sometime and buses were idle for long time.
“During checking challans would be issued against vehicles plying without a valid Certificate of fitness. Permit, Insurance, PUC certificate, Tax etc. Vehicles carrying excess students than capacity, driving without DL and violating other provisions of the law should also be checked. During checking emphasis should be given to the safe transport of school students,” the office of transport commissioner said.
