Bhubaneswar: A review meeting led by Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur was held regarding cyclone preparedness at the State Transport Authority (STA), Odisha.
In response to the situation, the STA has ensured all necessary arrangements. Drivers and passengers have been advised to remain cautious, and unnecessary travel has been discouraged, while 24-hour control room has been activated to address any emergencies.
Control rooms have been set up at both the STA office in Cuttack and the Bhubaneswar-1 RTO office. The STA control room number is 0671-2507042, which became operational from 7 AM on October 23 and will remain active until 7 AM on October 26. The control room is being overseen by Additional Transport Commissioner (Administration) Indramani Nayak.
Similarly, the Bhubaneswar-1 RTO control room, under the supervision of Additional Transport Commissioner (Enforcement) Lalmohan Sethi, can be reached at 0674-2540904, a release from STA said.
The Transport Commissioner has instructed all Regional Transport Offices to remain on high alert. Additional personnel have been deployed in RTO offices located in coastal districts.
Arrangements for essential equipment such as pole masters, cranes, hydras, Boleros, JCBs, and ambulances have been made. Leaves of staff at the STA and RTO offices have been cancelled until October 26.
Senior officials of the STA were present at the meeting, while regional transport officers joined virtually.
