Sundargarh: A family based in Odisha’s Sundargarh demonstrated extraordinary love for their parrot by performing its last rites as per Hindu traditions after the pet passed away few days back.
According to sources, the parrot had been with the family of Biswajit Pujari (a resident of Sundagarh’s Mahadevpara) for 28 years, and they had immense love and affection for each other.
The parrot flew into their home way back in 1996 and had been with them since then. The family fondly addressed it as Kunu.
On September 15, Kunu passed away, leaving the family devastated. Pujari organised a 10-day ritual as per customs at Veda Vyas in Rourkela and also arranged a feast for people at temple, sources said.
