Angul: The Angul District and Sessions Court and Special POCSO Court judge Prabhakar Ganthia on Saturday sentenced a teacher to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping and impregnating a minor girl.
The Judge pronounced the judgment on basis of statements of 11 witnesses.
The convict, Raghunath Nayak, was also asked to pay a fine of Rs 50,000.
Natak had repeatedly raped the survivor in 2015 following which she got pregnant. Instead of keeping his promise that he would marry her, he threatened to kill her if she disclosed the matter to anyone.
The minor with her family then lodged a complaint at Thakurgarh police station and he was later arrested.
