Bhubaneswar: Twelve steel companies will set up new facilities in Odisha, State Steel & Mines Minister Prafulla Mallik told the assembly on Monday.
Replying to a written query of BJD MLA Dhruba Charan Sahoo, the Minister informed the House that 3 will be set up in Sundargarh district, 2 in Jajpur district and one each in Angul, Kendrapada, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Jagatsinghpur districts. Two steel firms are yet to decide on the districts from where they would operate, he added.
Mallik, however, did not mention the time frame for setting up these units.
Odisha currently has 51 steel companies with annual production capacity of 33.12 MT, he added.
