Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday said that Odisha is likely to see a further rise in daytime temperature by 2 to 3°C during the next two days.
Consequently, the maximum temperature is likely to be more than 40°C and 3 to 5°C above normal at many places during the next 4 to 5 days. People are advised to take precautionary measures while going outside during the daytime between 11 am and 3 pm,” the IMD said while attributing it to northwesterly/westerly dry air and high solar insolation.
Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre later tweeted that four places in Odisha recorded 40°C and above by 2.30 pm on Monday. The mercury soared to 42.6°C in Jharsuguda and Sambalpur, followed by 41.2°C at Hirakud and 40°C at Chandbali. Bhubaneswar recorded 38.6°C.
The MeT office further said that heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in the state till April 29.
