Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corportation (BMC) cremated the bodies of two victims of triple train mishap at Bahanaga Bazaar railway station in Odisha’s Balasore district.
According to sources, total 81 bodies of the victims of the accident have been kept at the morgue of AIIMS in Bhubaneswar for identification through DNA test. While the DNA test reports of 29 victims have been received so far, 19 have been handed over to respective families.
In case of the bodies of the two persons, identified as Dinesh Yadav from Jharkhand and Suresh Ray from Bihar, their families refused to receive the mortal remains considering the long distance they have to travel. As per the government provisions, the BMC made arrangements for the cremation of the bodies.
Bhubaneswar mayor Sulochana Das said, “The two bodies were cremated with due honour in the crematorium at Satya Nagar in the city. The families of the two persons have also been informed accordingly.”
