Odisha Triple Train Crash: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Visits Bahanaga, Announces Rs 2 Crore For Area Development

Balasore: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday visited Bahanaga in Odisha’s Balasore district where a horrific triple-train accident recently killed 292 people.

The Minister, who is in Odisha on a three-day visit to the state, went around Bahanaga Bazar and announced an assistance of Rs two crore for the development of the place.

While Rs one crore assistance will be provided from from MP fund for development of Bahanaga area, Rs one crore will be released from from Railways fund for strengthening the healthcare service at the local hospital, he said.

The minister thanked the good samaritans who were first responders, doctors and medical staff besides the authorities who helped in the rescue and restoration after the train accident that took place at Bahanaga on June 2.

Vaishnaw said the main objective of his visit to Bahanaga was to thank the people of the area for the commendable work they did after the deadly train accident.

“The manner in which the people of Bahanaga helped in the rescue operation in the aftermath of the train accident is really praiseworthy. I came here to personally thank them,” said the Minister, who interacted with the locals during his visit.

He visited Balasore Hospital to meet officials and doctors. He alsomet officials of the district administration. The Minister also reviewed the development of Balasore railway station.
