Talcher: Body of one more youth was recovered from Brahmani River in Odisha’s Talcher on Tuesday, bringing the confirmed death toll to t
wo, while search continues for another teenager still missing.
The deceased have been identified as Ganesh Nayak and Shakti Sahu
According to sources, a group of eight friends, under the age of 18, mostly studying in Class Xor Plus II, had gone to bathe in the Brahmani River near Jagannath Temple in Talcher. The tragedy unfolded when three of them unexpectedly were swept away by the river’s strong currents. Local residents immediately rushed to help and managed to retrieve one body shortly after the incident. Following an extended search, a second body was recovered this morning.
A third youth, identified as Princeu Lohar, remains missing.
Fire services personnel, alongside local villagers, are conducting an intensive search operation in the river to locate him.
