Bhubaneswar: An Assistant Technology Manager in the office of the block agriculture office at Garadpur in Kendrapada district was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance officials on Saturday for allegedly taking Rs 2000 bribe from a supplier.
The accused, identified as Rajesh Kumar Senapati, ice, Garadapur, Dist. Kendrapara, was caught by Vigilance sleuths while demanding and accepting Rs 2,000/- from a supplier to handover the receipt challan of paddy threshing machines and to process the bill for payment.
The supplier, an MBA graduate, and a budding entrepreneur, had supplied the said machines as per government order received online. However, the accused was harassing him, demanding bribe to process his bill for payment, an official release said.
Senapati was allegedly harassing other suppliers, too, and collecting bribes for facilitating the release of bills.
Finding no other way, the supplier contacted Odisha Vigilance over tollfree No. 1064 and narrated the entire episode and illegal demand. Following this, Senapati was nabbed by the Vigilance team while receiving the demanded bribe from the complainant. The entire bribe money has been recovered from accused Sri Senapati and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Senapati from DA angle.
In this connection, a case has been registered and investigation is in progress against accused Senapati.
