Bhubaneswar: Responding to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s call to show the world that Odisha cares, a landlord in Bhubaneswar has decided to waive off the rent of her seven tenants for a month.
“Lockdown period is a tough time for everyone. Those living as tenants here have small scale businesses or are employees in small companies, which may or may not pay salary this month. I wanted to help them during this time,” Saudamini Samant Rai told the ANI.
On April 2, the Chief Minister had urged house owners to be compassionate to the poor and waive off or at least defer the rent of their tenants by three months in view of the nationwide lockdown to fight the novel coronavirus.
