Sambalpur: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday announced that second AIIMS in the state will be set up in Sambalpur.
Majhi made the announcement at a function, organised at GM University auditorium in the city, to launch the state government’s CM Kisan Yojana on the occasion of agrarian festival Nuakhai.
The Chief Minister said his government has already taken up the matter with the Centre considering the need for specialised health services in western Odisha. He hoped that the process for opening the second All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) would start soon.
Launching the CM Kisan Yojana, he said it aimed at extending financial assistance to the farmers who have not been covered under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana.
Stating that the state scheme will also cover landless farmers, Majhi said around 46 lakh farmers will benefit from the Yojana. This initiative, which replaces KALIA scheme of the previous BJD government, aims to empower small and marginal farmers, as well as landless agricultural households, across the state, he added.
