Cuttack: The person from Cuttack, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, had attended the Tablighi Jamaat Markaz event in south Delhi’s Nizammudin area earlier last month.
Briefing the media, government chief spokesperson on COVID-19 Subroto Bagchi said that 27 persons linked to the event have been traced in Odisha and seven among them are foreigners. “While 21 of the returnees have tested negative, one positive case has been reported from Cuttack. Five test results are awaited,” he added.
All these persons and their families are being kept in quarantine and under strict surveillance, he said.
Bagchi further informed that 40 people from Odisha, who took part in the religious congregation, are still stranded in Delhi, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.
“Ten Jamaat members from Bengal had recently visited Talcher and we have traced their contacts and sent their samples for COVID-19 test,” he added.
