Nayagarh: In a proud moment for Odisha, Dr Susama Sudhishri has bagged the Best Scientist Award from the Central government for her research on soil and water conservation.
Born at Jagadisprasad in Nayagarh’s Bhapur block, Susama is at present working as principal scientist at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR) in New Delhi.
She received the award from Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar at the fifth National Conference of Agri Vision on Sunday.
ICAR Director General Dr Trilochan Mohapatra, Dr RC Agrawal, Dr Raghuraj Kishori Tiwari and Subham Singh Patel were among those present on the occasion.
Susama has published as many as 140 research-based articles in both national and international journals.
Among many national honours, she has won a gold medal as well as a Special Research Award from ICAR.
She is also a visiting professor at Ohio State University in USA.
