Bhubaneswar: Odisha duo Dipi Monika Toppo and Mariana Kujur contributed handsomely in India’s big win in the Women’s Asian Hockey 5s World Cup Qualifier 2023.
Dipi netted a brace (12th & 20th minute)and Mariana scored one (17th) as India powered past Malaysia 7-2 at Oman’s Salalah on Friday.
The other scorers were skipper Navjot Kaur (3rd & 28th), Akshata Dhekale (4th) and Mahima Choudhary (28th). Malaysia struck through Wan Wan (7th) and Aziz Zafirah (11th).
India’s Akshata received the Player of the Match award.
India will face Japan and Thailand on August 26 and 27, respectively.
