Berhampur: Ganjam district, which was the first hot spot of COVID-19 in the state, registered just 35 daily positive cases on September 21 which is the lowest figure in the last three months, official sources said.
The sources said the district witnessed surge in COVID-19 positive cases following exodus of the migrant labourers from various parts of the country soon after the national lockdown was eased. It registered the cases in hundreds for almost two months before the figure started to decline.
The spread of COVID-19 was brought under control due to strict enforcement of guidelines like wearing masks and social distancing, containment measures, intensive door to door health screening, active involvement of the community in the COVID-19 management.
The Ganjam model of COVID-19 management is being followed by other districts of Odisha, the sources said.
