Keonjhar: Junior national kho kho player from Odisha’s Keonjhar district Manika Nayak allegedly committed suicide in her house on Thursday.
According to sources, Manika was found hanging in the bedroom of her house at Dharntajipur village under Baria police limits in the morning. Her family members rushed her to a hospital at nearby Jhumpura. But the doctors of the hospital declared her brought dead.
On being informed, police went to the hospital and seized the body. They have registered a case of unnatural death and sent the body for post-mortem. While the police did not ascertain the cause of death, Manik’s family has also not revealed anything in this regard to the media.
Manika, a student of Plus II in Ukhunda college in the district, represented Odisha in national junior kho kho tournaments and won several medals. She was instrumental in the victory of Odisha in the national tournament held in Jharkhand recently.
