Berhampur: Odisha’s Satya Maharana claims to have carved the world’s smallest statue of Lord Ram. Yes. You read it right.
The man, popular for creating miniature art works, said the miniature idol carved out of ‘Gambhari’ wood measures 4.1 cm high and has a bow, arrow and a quiver.
On the eve of Ram Navami, the expert artiste sat down to work on the idol and it took him merely an hour to carve the statue and complete it with all the details. “I carved it on the occasion of Ram Navami,” said Satya of berhampur.
The 36-year-old of Berhampur has set 25 international and national records for creating smallest artifacts in different mediums including wood, chalk, soap and sand and this miniature idol had added yet another feather on his cap.
The smallest statue has grabbed many eyeballs at a time when the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government is planning to install a 251-metre high statue of Lord Ram, tallest in the world, on the banks of river Sarayu in Ayodhya.
Satya has set 25 international and national records for creating smallest artifacts in different mediums including wood, chalk, soap and sand.
In May, he created the smallest chariot of Lord Jagannath in teak wood having a height of 1.3 cm and width of 1.4 cm.
