Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Pipli applique work is part of the logo of the yet to be released Bollywood film, ‘Sui Dhaaga’. It features Odisha’s distinct Chandua art. The logo of the movie was released to coincide with The National Handloom Day on August 7.
This is the first time that a film’s logo has been made by artisans from all over the country. The film’s team reached out to local artisans and craftsmen from across the length and breadth of the country to create the logo in their unique stitching styles.
In a special video, the lead pair, Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma reveal that the film’s team sent a stencil to several artists in Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and to several other states and cities and the artists in return sent back their respective logos made intricately using their specific location’s artistry and fabrics.
The film’s hero, Varun Dhawan was confused between Phulkari and Pipili’s appliqué work earlier.
He tweeted, “Sahi Jawaab! Mujhe bhi yeh Phulkari hi lag raha tha 😛 Ab yeh solve karke batao @AnushkaSharma.”
The logo shows handloom work from Assam, Kantha stitch work from West Bengal, Kashida and Sozni from Kashmir, colourful Phulkari from Punjab, intricate thread work forms Rabari and Mochi Bharat from Gujarat, Phool Patti from Uttar Pradesh and Zardozi work from Lucknow.
The innovative logo-reveal video pays tribute to the indigenous artisans in the country and portrays the incredible and diversified handiwork of as many as 15 kinds of needlework from various corners of the country.
Varun tweeted, “For the first time ever an Indian film logo has been designed by artists across our incredible country .15 art forms से बना,भारत से जुड़ा, आ रहा है आज एक ऐसा लोगो, जो है असली MADE IN INDIA.The power of #SUIDHAAGA.”
