Rayagada: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday launched the distribution of smart health cards under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY).
The Chief Minister launched BSKY card distribution through virtual mode and dedicated various development projects worth Rs 870 crore for the district.
In a video message, Naveen said 8.3 lakh people of the district can avail the benefits using BSKY card.
Praising self help groups, he said Mission Shakti has been helpful for 4,000 women by giving them a means of livelihood.
On Independence Day, the Chief Minister had announced smart health cards to 3.5 crore people of 96 lakh families in the state under BSKY. Each family can avail treatment cost up to Rs 5 lakh per annum. Women members can avail this benefit up to Rs 10 lakh every year.
Odisha is the first state in the country to have provided such facilities in the health sector, Naveen said. This card will be given to all the beneficiaries phase-wise.
Beneficiaries of National and State Food Security Schemes, Annapurna, and Antodaya beneficiaries will get this card. The beneficiaries can avail health services in more than 200 hospital chains of the country including Odisha.
