Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC) on Tuesday paid a dividend of Rs 27.26 crore to the state government for the year 2016-17.
The corporation has made a post-tax profit of Rs 90.87 crore in 2016-17.
Energy Minister Sushant Singh and secretary, Hemant Sharma handed over a cheque to chief minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat towards state’s dividend from OHPC.
OHPC CMD Vishal Dev and Director, Finance, Pravakar Mohanty were also present on the occasion.
It may be mentioned here that the OHPC provides about 20 percent of the state’s power requirement in general and during peak hours, it provides about 40 percent of the energy demand. It has six power generating stations having 31 units.
Renovation, modernisation and uprating works are in progress in three power houses of the corporation at a cost of Rs 600 crore.
