Olympian Lazrus promotes hockey among city schoolkids

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to promote hockey among schoolchildren, Hockey Gangpur Odisha president Lazrus Barla, William Xalxo and Roshan Minz distributed hockey sticks and balls among students of the Unit-1 Boys High School here on Friday.
“The is the second school of the capital city with whom we interacted. It is a great pleasure for me to know that apart from Sundargarh many students here are interested to learn hockey,” said Lazrus.

“We welcome the initiative taken by legendary hockey players of our state to promote hockey from school level. Our students will got a golden opportunity to meet international hockey stars,” said school headmaster Promad Kumar Das.
Hockey Gangpur Odisha Secretary Debasish Gouda said, “In our first step to develop hockey at school level, last week we could find some boys of Capital High School to start a boys team. In our initial phase, we will adopt eight city-based schools to create junior level players. We will provide coaches and hockey equipment to the schools.”
