Cuttack: One person was killed and another critically injured after the car in which they were returning from a wedding party dashed against a tree in Banki area of Odisha’s Cuttack district.
As per preliminary information, the mishap took place near Ranasankha under the jurisdiction of Banki police station in the district when the victims were returning home after attending a marriage party around Sunday midnight.
The car carrying them dashed against a roadside tree apparently after the driver lost control over the wheels near a sharp turn. While one person died in the mishap, another sustained critical injury. The injured has been admitted to hospital for treatment.
However, the driver of the car reportedly escaped with minor injury. He was stated to have run away after the accident. The police have seized the vehicle and launched an investigation into the incident.
