Baripada: A man has been arrested for allegedly cheating students on the pretext of providing them jobs in a security agency.
The accused, identified as Siddharth Kumar Pal of Sahadevkhunta area in Balasore, had taken Rs 17 lakh from 46 students of Baripada and other districts.
Pal had opened a security agency at Baripada and took money from the students on the pretext of giving them jobs with a handsome salary in the agency.
When he did not give any job, the students lodged a complaint in Baripada Town police station in December, 2016. The students also moved the Crime Branch, following which, a probe was ordered in January 2017.
A team of police led by Baripada Town police station IIC Ashok Kumar Nayak was able the nab the accused on Tuesday.
