Bhubaneswar: A youth was injured after being shot at by miscreants following an argument at Laxmisagar filing station in Bhubaneswar on Sunday night.
The injured has been identified as Biswajit Behera, a resident of Nayapalli in the city. He is undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital here.
According to sources, there was a heavy rush at the filling station near Jharpada overbridge in view of the two-day Bharat Bandh. Several people arrived in an SUV around 11 pm and asked the staff to fill up the tank, defying the queue. This led to a heated exchange between the occupants of the SUV and staff as the latter refused to fill up the tank. Those in the SUV then called some of their associates, who reached the spot on two motorcycles and threatened the employees of the filling station.
Though the staff filled up the tank of the vehicle to avoid any untoward incident, the matter escalated when the miscreants took out a gun from the SUV and opened fire on them.
A bullet hit Biswajit Behera in the left leg, following which the attackers fled the spot.
On being informed, police reached the place and efforts are on to identify and nab the accused.
