Berhampur: One person died and two others sustained serious injuries in firecracker explosion in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Friday.
As per reports, Jitu Pradhan of Jagatisahi under Beguniapada police station in the district along with his two friends were making firecrackers for Diwali in the first floor of his house in the evening. Suddenly the firecracker exploded with a loud noise.
The explosion was so powerful that it could be heard in the entire area. Jitu and his two friends were critically injured in the blast. Besides, three family members of Jitu staying in the ground floor of the house were partially injured.
The villagers rushed Jitu and his friends, who had sustained burn injuries, to the community health centre (CHC) at Kodala. But the doctors declared Jitu brought dead. The two other persons were undergoing treatment.
On being informed, police went to Jagatisahi and registered a case. They were investigating to confirm whether Jitu had necessary permission to prepare firecrackers.
