Cuttack: In their ongoing crackdown on adulterated food manufacturing units, the Commissionerate Police busted yet another spurious ghee manufacturing unit at Pithapur area, near Badambadi, in Cuttack on Monday.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the Pithapur location and seized huge quantity of fake ghee, manufacturing and packing machines, chemical and colour essence, and packaging material bearing logos of various brands.
Two other fake ghee units were busted in Cuttack last month — one in Jagarpur industrial area, from where material worth over Rs 1 crore was seized, and the other at Sriram Nagar under Bailasi Mouza.
Police had also raided a spurious ghee and edible oil manufacturing unit at Gabagasta in Cuttack and seized huge quantity of fake ghee in November.
The Commissionerate Police has also detected fake chewing tobacco, masala, edible oil and soya chunks manufacturing units in the name of branded companies in the city recently.
