Cuttack: The helper of a truck and 13 cows were killed when the vehicle overturned near Madhupatna Square in Cuttack in the wee hours of Saturday.
The driver of the vehicle was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical
condition.
The incident occurred around 3am when the driver of the truck lost control over the vehicle. The ill-fated truck, ferrying 50 cows, was heading towards Sambalpur from Khurda.
Alleging illegal transportation of cows, members of Go Surakshya staged a road blockade near the accident spot disrupting vehicular movement on the busy road.
The carcasses of the cows have been sent for autopsy and the injured animals are undergoing treatment at the veterinary hospital, an official from
Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) informed.
