Niali: Despite several attempts of forest officials and night vigil by villagers, one more sheep was reportedly found dead at Pokhara village in Niali of Cuttack district late on Friday.
“The wild animal entered the cattle shed of Arakhita Das while it was raining heavily last night and killed the sheep. It seems the state government’s efforts to trace and catch the animal have failed to yield results. The villagers are spending sleepless nights as the sheep killer has unleashed terror in the area,” a local resident said.
On Friday, locals detained four forest officials at Baharana village in Niali for hours after two sheep were found dead the previous night. Following the incident, agriculture minister Damodar Rout assured compensation to villagers, who lost sheep in such attacks.
