Cuttack: The Orissa High Court disposed of 1,36,599 cases achieving Case Clearance Rate (CCR) of 133.6% against 1,02,247 cases filed between January 1 and December 23, 2022.
The opening balance of the year was 1,96,662 cases and the pendency of cases has been reduced to 1,62,310 cases. As many as 8769 cases of more than 10 years old were disposed of during the year, according to a release from the High Court.
In the district courts, 5,00,404 cases were instituted till November 30 against 4,34,810 cases in 2021. So far as the disposal figure is concerned, 4,47,733 cases were disposed of in 2022 compared to 2,38,588 cases in 2021, which is 53.28% more.
Judgments in 1,41,920 cases including 29,209 Civil cases and 1,12,711 Criminal cases were disposed of in 2022 compared to 72,806 judgments cases in previous year, registering an increase of 51%. The per capita disposal in 2021 was 311 cases against 577 cases in 2022.
Total 1,042 rape cases were disposed of in 2022, out of which 125 were disposed of within one year from the date of taking cognisance. Similarly, 3309 cases were disposed of in the District Judiciary, out of which 660 cases were disposed of within the statutory period of one year. Total 4,351 cases were relating to Rape and POCSO cases were disposed of including 785 cases within one year.
