Bhubaneswar: The employees of Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) on Tuesday launched a three-day agitation to press for their four-point charter of demands, including regularization of contractual employees.
Over 600 government buses have stayed off the roads across the state leaving commuters in the lurch. Nearly 60 buses from Badambadi bus stand in Cuttack have also stopped plying on different routes.
Owing to the strike, communication in Jeypore zone of Koraput district has been largely affected as many people of the area depend on the government buses for commuting.
“We demand equal pay for equal work and payment of salary as per the 7th Pay Commission. If the state government fails to fulfil our genuine demands, we will intensify the strike in the days to come,” a member of All Odisha State Road Transport Corporation Association said.
