Bhubaneswar: In further trouble for Odisha Television Limited (OTV), the Odisha Fire and Disaster Response Academy (OFDRA) has reprimanded its management for non-compliance of fire safety norms on its office premises here.
After inspecting the fire safety measures in the OTV office on October 7, the OFDRA has sent a letter to the news channel to comply with the safety norms. During inspection, the authorities had found several loopholes in fire safety norms.
The letter stated that the OTV building was granted occupancy permission by BDA exclusively for office purpose. But the basement of the office is being used as studio, dining hall and makeup room violating the occupancy permission.
“The studio contains many materials and electronics server room which pose fire hazard. In case of a fire incident, there may be loss of lives as there is no ventilation system in the basement,” the letter stated.
The OFDRA has advised the OTV to comply with the shortcomings and intimate them for further inspection for issuing fire safety certificate.
It may be noted that allegations of several land grabbing cases and money laundering have been levelled against the Odia news channel.
