Puri: A social media update of a few tourists eating ‘Mahaprasad’ with their shoes on has led to resentment among devotees of Jagannath Temple in Puri.
According to sources, a tourist identified as Manas Das from Kolkata had posted around 12 pictures of his tour to the temple on Wednesday. Among them are pictures showing him and his friend eating Mahaprasad on their car with their shoes on.
After the pictures went viral, devotees and social media users demanded a probe into the incident and necessary action against the tourists for showing disrespecting Lord Jagannath and the Odia culture.
Manas later deleted the pictures, sources added.
