Bhubaneswar: More than 2,000 school students from across Odisha will attend the state-level children’s festival, ‘Suravi’, to be organised by the School and Mass Education department this year.
A press release from the department on Monday stated that the Suravi would be organised on the premises of Capital High School in Bhubaneswar for three days from November 12 to 14 to mark the state-level celebration of Children’s Day.
Minister of School and Mass Education Nityananda Gond, Bhubaneswar mayor Sulochana Das, MLAs Anant Narayan Jena, Sushant Kumar Rout and Babu Singh and development commissioner Anu Garg are scheduled to attend the function of the inaugural day.
The second day of the festival will be attended by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and Education minister Gond. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will attend the function on the final day of the festival as chief guest, the release stated.
Besides, Nityananda Gond, Minister of Higher Education Suryabanshi Suraj, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, MLA Babu Singh and Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja will also be present in the final day programmes.
The school students will participate in different competitions, visit historical and important places, meet prominent personalities, hold an exhibition on science projects and workshops besides performing in cultural events during the three-day Suravi.
