Bhubaneswar: The foreign direct investment (FDI) flow to Odisha for different sectors in 2019 and 2020 was more than 29 million dollar.
This was revealed by Union Minister of State for Finance Anurag Singh Thakur in a reply to Dhenkanal MP Mahesh Sahoo in Lok Sabha recently. In his question, Sahoo wanted to know the FDI flow to Odisha during 2018 and 2019 compared to neighbouring states like West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.
The Minister, in his reply, said the cumulative FDI flow to Odisha from October 219 to November 2020 was 29.63 million dollar. Of the amount, $ 13.05 million was from October 2019 to March 2020 and $ 16.58 from April, 2020 to November, 2020.
While Telangana attracted $ 1516.99 million during the period, the FDI flow was $ 581.26 million to West Bengal and $ 265.04 million to Andhra Pradesh, he added.
Giving the details of the foreign investment in Odisha, Singh said metallurgical industries attracted the highest flow of $ 25.57 million, followed by $ 1.86 million for banking, insurance, business, outsourcing and other service sectors.
Vegetable oil and ‘Vanaspati’ sector attracted an investment of $ 1.07 million, while the flow was $ 0.88 million for power, $ 0.07 million for computer software and hardware and $ 0.14 million for education sector, the Union Minister said.
