Jagatsinghpur: The identification process for felling trees in forest land for JSW’s proposed steel plant in the district.
More than 500 trees have been identified in Govindpur village under of Dhinkia panchayat since Friday. The trees are of different varieties like Moringa, Mango, Jackfruit, Cashewnut and Banana. The Department of Horticulture has assessed the compensation amount to be paid to the beneficiaries as per the size of the trees.
Similarly, the survey of betel vines is underway in Patna, Mahal and Govindpur villages of Dhinkia panchayat. Till date, 308 betel vines have been measured and 166 of those demolished. Total 125 beneficiaries have been provided financial assistance of over Rs 3.15 crore.
The JSW’s project is proposed to come up in the area of Dhinkia Nuagaon and Gadkujang panchayats under Ersama tehsil of the district.
