Birmingham: In a rare bonhomie, Pakistani fans set aside traditional rivalry and joined Indian supporters as the “men in saffron” chase a huge total set by England at the ICC World Cup on Sunday.
England has to win this match to remain in the tournament. And if the hosts manage to win, it can upset Pakistan’s chances of getting a semi-final berth.
Realising that the stakes from Sunday’s match are high for both England and Pakistan, former English skipper Nasser Hussian took to his Twitter handle as he asked all Pakistan fans as to which side they are supporting.
And this is what a Pakistani fan, Nasir Ali, Tweeted. “Jana Gana Mana Adhinayaka Jaya he Bharata Bhagya Vidhata.”
No sooner had he made his position clear, several other Pakistani fans joined him in supporting the neighbour, even if for a day.
