Mumbai: After Women’s World Cup-winning star Smriti Mandhana announced that her wedding with Palash Muchhal had been called off, the musician also took to Instagram stories on Sunday to confirm that their relationship was over.
Videos and photos of Smriti and Palash’s pre-wedding functions like sangeet and haldi had gone viral, as the duo was to get married on November 23 in Maharashtra’s Sangli. However, the wedding was postponed after Smriti’s father had to be hospitalised. Palash was apparently taken to hospital apparently for stress-related issues.
As Smriti took off pictures of her with Palash from social media, there was speculation that
Palash had cheated on her by getting involved with a choreographer.
After a fortnight of rumours and uncertainty over their break-up, Palash hit out against ‘baseless rumours’ and vowed to take legal action against those who spread ‘fake news’.
“I have decided to move on in my life and step back from my personal relationship. It’s been very difficult for me to see people react so easily on baseless rumours about something which has been most sacred to me. It’s the most difficult phase of my life, and I will deal with it gracefully, holding on to my beliefs. I truly hope we, as a society, learn to pause before judging someone based on unverified gossip whose sources are never identified. Our words can wound in ways we may never understand,” Palash shared.
“My team will be taking strict legal action against those spreading false and defamatory content. Thank you to everyone who has stood by me with kindness in this tough time,” Palash added.
