Thulasimathi Murugesan was in line for gold as well, but had to settle for silver in women’s singles SU5 category. Thulasi finished second-best to China’s Qiu Xia Yang, who triumphed 21-17, 21-10.

Suhas Yathiraj managed a silver too after losing 9-21, 13-21 to local player and defending champion Lucas Mazur in the men’s singles SL 4 category final.

Manisha Ramadass, who lost to Thulasi in an all-Indian semifinal, added to the tally by outplaying Denmark’s Cathrine Rosengren 21-12, 21-8 in the bronze-medal match.

In athletics, Yogesh Kathuniya lifted silver with a season’s best throw of 42.22 metres in men’s discus F56 event.
