New Delhi: The Patiala House Court here on Thursday sent the four persons arrested for breaching security in Lok Sabha to seven-day custody under Delhi Police’s Special Cell, PTI reported.

The accused quarter — Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Amol Shinde and Neelam Devi — were produced before Special Judge Hardeep Kaur by Delhi Police, who sought their custody for 15 days but got 7 days.

The accused were arrested and charged under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Delhi Police’s Special Cell has registered a case under UAPA sections 16 (punishment for terrorist act) and 18 (punishment for conspiracy, etc.) and IPC sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 452 (trespass), 153 (wantonly giving provocation, with intent to cause riot), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) at Parliament Street police station.

All four were interrogated at Diplomatic Security Force’s office in Chanakyapuri.

A fifth suspect, identified as Vishal Sharma, was nabbed from Gurugram.

Raids are underway to catch the sixth accused and main conspirator Lalit Jha.

Delhi Police said that the security breach was well-coordinated and meticulously planned. One of the accused said during interrogation that they carried out this act because they were upset with issues like farmers’ protest, Manipur crisis and unemployment in the country.
