Koraput: Nurses of a government-run hospital at Boipariguda in Koraput district treated a patient under mobile phone torch light due to power cuts in the area on Tuesday.
A critical diarrhoea patient was brought to Community Health Centre (CHH). A nurse treated the patient using torchlight of mobile phone as there was a power cut in the hospital, said his relatives.
Set up in 2013, the hospital has 40 beds and receives a constant flow of patients. Even after 8 years, the hospital is yet to be provided three-phase electricity. Patients’ treatment have been done in dark many times in the hospital, said sources.
Even pregnant women and children are treated under such conditions. The locals demanded immediate action to provide power supply to the hospital.
