Bhubaneswar: The Lingaraj Temple administration has decided to hold the Sital Sasthi Jatra, which celebrates the divine wedding of Lord Lingaraj and Parvati, on May 27.
However, the festival will be a low key affair this year amid restrictions on religious congregation amid the COVID-19 lockdown, which had earlier forced the administration to suspend the annual Rukuna Ratha Jatra and Chandan Jatra of Lord Lingaraj.
Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Abani Kanta Patnaik said that they have written to the state government seeking permission for conducting Sital Sasthi.
It will be held in consonance with the lockdown guidelines, he added.
The wedding of the divine couple is solemnised on the sixth day of fortnight of the Hindu month of ‘Jyestha’ every year to welcome the monsoon.
