Dhenkanal: In a daring daylight armed robbery, three miscreants looted Rs six lakh from an employee of a petrol pump in the town after shooting him on Tuesday.
According to sources, the miscreants, who came on a motorcycle, shot at the cashier of the petrol pump at Baladiabandha area under Sadar police limits, Manabendra Das while the latter was keeping the cash in a van to go to a bank.
After Das was critically injured in the two rounds of firing, the accused fled with the cash. Das was rushed to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. His condition was stated to be critical.
Speaking to the media on the incident, Dhenkanal SP K Shiva Subhramani said as the petrol pump was situated away from the town, the miscreants took advantage of it. Sadar Police has registered a case and launched investigation to nab the accused, he added.
