Bhubaneswar: On the first day of the third phase of vaccination against COVID-19, a total of 21,914 persons were inoculated.
Informing about the number of persons covered under the vaccination drive in Odisha, Health Director Bijay Panigrahy on Tuesday said yesterday 11,589 persons took the vaccine which includes 300 persons above the age of 45 and under 59 with comorbidities.
Similarly, among the healthcare and frontline workers, 1,041 healthcare workers took the first dose, 6,860 took the second dose and 2,424 frontline workers took the first dose taking the total to 10,325 in this segment, Panigrahy added.
Panigrahy further informed that the vaccination drive was successful in all places and no case of Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI) was reported from any session site.
The vaccination process of the third phase is continuing on the second too and there has been a good response, the Health Director said.

As of today 264 session sites have been opened and more will be made functional soon as the decision to inoculate common people is taken.
As per the Centre’s guidelines the vaccination will continue for 5 days a week in cities and three days at CHCs so that the routine work in the health centres are no affected, Panigrahy added.
