New Delhi: Fragments of an Air India Express aircraft reportedly fell on the roof of a house in New Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area. The incident took place after the aircraft took off from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport recently, reported the News 18.
The owner of the house immediately reported the incident with the Delhi Police Control Room. Later, the South-West District Police informed the airport authorities about this incident.
The Air Traffic Control (ATC) alerted the pilots of all the aircraft that were to take off during that time period. After a long exercise, the plane was identified. The Air India Express flight number IX-145 was asked to return to the airport. The incident took place on the night of September 2 around 9.30pm, airport sources said, as quoted by News 18.
Finally, the plane landed at the IGI airport. All the passengers and crew members on board the plane were safe. The airlines officials said a problem was detected in the engine after take off. The investigation is ongoing.
