Cuttack: Demanding a rollback in the revised power tariff notified by Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC), Bharatiya Vikash Parishad on Monday filed a petition in Orissa High Court.
In his petition, the Parishad president Surendra Panigrahi told the court that as the economic condition of common people has become miserable during COVID-19 pandemic, hike in power tariff will only add to their miseries.
The petitioner also wanted to know that while the power generation in Odisha is much better compared to other states, why has the state government has revised the power tariff.
Seeking urgent intervention in the matter, the petitioner requested the court to direct the state government to immediately roll back the power tariff.
The petitioner has made the principal secretary, Energy and six others party in the case.
