Plus II Student ‘Addicted To Online Games’ Ends Life In Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: A Plus II student reportedly ended his life at Kuchiakoili Arada village under Bahanaga block in Odisha’s Balasore district after losing an online game.

The deceased has been identified as Ashish Kumar Mallick (17), was a second-year student of Anantpur Saraswat College.

According to sources, Ashish locked himself in his room he returning home from college on Friday. He also did not respond when his mother called him for dinner. Later, family members with the help of neighbours broke open the door and found him hanging from the ceiling fan. He was taken to Community Health Centre, Soro, where doctors declared him dead.

It is being suspected that Ashish was addicted to online games. “He had brought a new mobile and playing games for the last 2 months,” a relative told the media.

Meanwhile, police have seized the body and initiated an investigation.
