Disclosing the alleged motive behind the murder, the DCP said that the accused used to take tuition from the deceased’s parents about two years ago. “He felt humiliated as they asked for pending fees amounting to Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 time and again and irked over it, he assaulted the boy and attacked him with a knife,” he said.

He further said that the scientific team also visited the spot and the juvenile will be produced before Juvenile Justice Board after all evidence are gathered.

The brutal murder took place around 5.30 pm on Wednesday when the deceased, Subham Paltasingh, a Class-IX student of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya, was preparing for his class exams, starting Thursday, on the ground floor while his father Manoj Paltasingh, a schoolteacher, was teaching some students on the first floor.

Subham went running inside his home at Benapanjari under Jatni police limits after being struck by a knife in his stomach and neck. He was rushed to Khurda district headquarters hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
