PM Modi Meets Executive Chairman Of Hancock Prospecting Gina Rinehart During Australia Visit

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Gina Rinehart, Executive Chairman of Hancock Prospecting Group, on Tuesday in Sydney, Australia.

The Prime Minister highlighted the transformative reforms and initiatives being undertaken in India and invited her to partner in technology, investment and skilling in the mining and minerals sector, official sources said.

Modi discussed the reforms measures undertaken by his government to enhance ‘Ease of Doing Business’ in India.

The PM, who reached Sydney on the evening of Monday,  started to meet with the Australian Business CEOs on Tuesday as per the schedule.

After meeting with the PM, Gina said, it was very interesting, it was actually exciting. “The potential for our two countries is huge…In the last less than 5 years under Modi, your economy has grown to 3.5 trillion (USD) and the plan for the next 25 years is to grow to 32 trillion (USD),” she reportedly said.

Further, she added, “So, the growth recently is huge. The growth in future is going to be huge. Australia really needs to work harder to develop its relations with India…”

Modi, along with Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister of Australia, also addressed and interacted with a large gathering of Indian community members at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.

The Indian diaspora, consisting of students, researchers, professionals and business persons, participated in the event with great enthusiasm. A number of Ministers, Members of Parliament and other dignitaries from Australia also participated in the event.

Both Prime Ministers jointly unveiled the foundation stone for a ‘Little India’ Gateway to be built in Harris Park in Parramatta, Western Sydney, which is home to a large Indian community.

In his address, PM Modi highlighted “Mutual Trust and Mutual Respect” as the foundation of the close historical ties between India and Australia, and underscored the numerous elements that bind the two countries. He lauded the contribution and success of the Indian community in Australia, calling them cultural and brand Ambassadors of India.
