New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Kanyakumari on May 30 for a significant spiritual retreat. He will meditate at the renowned Vivekananda Rock Memorial for 48 hours, a spot where Swami Vivekananda himself meditated. The Prime Minister’s visit is scheduled from the evening of May 30 until the evening of June 1, during which he will meditate at the Dhyan Mandapam.
A senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader informed PTI that the Prime Minister’s visit is not associated with any party event, and detailed plans will be available one day in advance.
This visit coincides with the day before the final phase of voting for the Lok Sabha elections on June 1, with Modi’s constituency, Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, among those voting. Results for the 543 Lok Sabha seats will be declared on June 4.
Notably, the Vivekananda Rock Memorial holds historical and spiritual significance as the site where Swami Vivekananda meditated and envisioned a developed India. Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of India, is a place of convergence for the Indian Ocean, the Bay of Bengal, and the Arabian Sea, as well as the meeting point of India’s eastern and western coastlines.
In 2019, Modi visited the Kedarnath shrine in Uttarakhand, and in 2014, he visited Shivaji’s Pratapgarh.
